Body Image and how is it related to Self-Image?
Body-image is actually part of self-image. Our body-image is a lot more than what and how we look like or how we are perceived. It also relates to how we think, feel and react to our own self physical attributes perception. Our fundamental development of body-image is directly affected by cultural images and the influence of those who surround us such as family, peers and others. With a positive body-image comes the following attributes that enhance our psychological adjustment such as less depression, positive self worth, life satisfaction, less interpersonal anxiety, fewer eating disorders. Consequently, distortions in thought process have direct association with a negative body-image.

It is evident that our body images are flexible. As we age, our body experiences change where each stage in our life is associated with different body-image markers. So, it is almost a lifelong process to establish a positive body-image. Thus, when we Change our body-image it also means we are changing our body from the inside out as a whole. It ultimately equates to altering the way we think, feel and react to our body phisically and emotionally.
